The Internet of Things is a massive area of growth and opportunity. Naming devices and leveraging the ability of domain names to create 'speed dial' to access IoT resources is one of the more obvious ways that DNS can be used. There are some other manners where DNS and Domain Names can play a role. Sensors, controls, and other low level devices often send signalling or receive signalling messages or require transmitting or polling data.

This discussion will be fairly technical in nature.
